Data Intensive Collaboration on the Genomics Virtual Lab

University of Melbourne

Project Description:

The Genomics Virtual Lab (http://genome.edu.au) is a NeCTAR (http://nectar.org.au) funded program to facilitate best practice genomics in the Australian research community by providing a highly accessible, functional and reproducible cloud-‐based genomics analysis environment (the GVL Workbench), comprehensive tutorial materials and protocols, managed services and user support.

The GVL Workbench is essentially a suite of on-‐demand web-‐based computational analysis platforms including Galaxy (a powerful genomics workflow environment), interactive statistical (RStudio) and computational (iPython Notebook) platforms, and a command-‐line interface, all accessing a wide range of pre-‐installed genomics tools and reference datasets and backed by a cloud-‐based scalable compute cluster.
