Project Description

This project has made existing specimen, image, dimension, location and geochemical data collected by Flinders palaeontology researchers available for open access. To date, this project has:
* Standardised metadata schema across existing datasets.
* Aggregated data to allow complex interrogation.
* Made data available via the Atlas of Living Australia, in a new repository named Atlas of Prehistoric Australia.

The new database presented here will be of great value to evolutionary biologists, palaeontologists, archaeologists, and zoologists studying the biogeography and evolution of the Australian fauna. The time depth added to modern faunal databases through this additional data extends the known geographical ranges of existing species and enables environmental information to be added to better comprehend the evolution and distribution of extant species.
