Coastal Wetland Remediation – East Trinity Site – Cairns

Southern Cross University

Project Description

The East Trinity Wetland has been the focus of acid sulfate soil assessment and remediation for the past 10 years. A large amount of primary data on soil properties, water quality, hydrology, terrestrial and aquatic ecology, and the site management has been collected through multiple projects involving PhD students, and teams of research staff from government authorities and Universities. Importantly, these data sets provide insight on the spatial and temporal changes following inundation of this wetland by tidal water, simulating what may occur at the onset of sea-level rise and coastal plain inundation.

This project made the following data sources available open access online:
- A selection of presentations (public and conferences), and papers written from 2006 onwards
- A selection of technical reports covering the design and implementation of the site remediation strategies
- A set of temporal and spatial data for 15 key soil and water quality characteristics, collected from 2008 onwards at the East Trinity Wetland complex.

Data Type:

papers, technical reports, digital presentations, numerical data in spreadsheets, maps, photographs
