The Foley Collection

Victoria University

Project Description

The Foley collection is a major historic archive collected over the past 45 years by Aboriginal activist/academic Gary Foley. It is a large scale collection of print and digital material currently housed at Victoria University and partially accessible online through the Koori History Website Project. The collection already has a presence on Research data Australia which can be accessed at: https://researchdata.ands.org.au/foley-collection/122994

For this project the primary focus would be to make the following data sources available open access online:
- A selection of Gary Foley’s personal papers including speeches (public and conferences), essays, and papers written by Gary Foley – from 2006 onwards
- A selection of correspondence covering Gary Foley’s engagement with leading public figures over the last 20 years.
- Papers, administrative documents and Minute Books of committees and organizations chaired by Gary Foley who have significance for the history of Koori activism
- A set of unique video records made by Gary Foley covering the Northland Secondary College
