Cross-communication and enhanced accessibility for research data management systems.

University of Canberra

Project Description:

The Seeding the Commons project at the University of Canberra (UC) aims to establish a research data repository and work towards a metadata store for the research data generated at the UC. This is timely as the University has recently established a research management system for research grant and contract management within the Research Services Office as well as a research publication management system to serve as an institutional research publication repository for reporting (e.g. HERDC) and public access purposes. The ANDS Seeding the Commons research data repository and metadata store is complementary to these two management systems and will enable the University and its research community to safely store research data collections, to publish the metadata of these to the Australian Research Data Commons and, where possible, share these research data collections with other researchers nationwide. A number of collections have been identified for publication. We will also develop the UC Research Data Management Policy and seek to establish cross-communication capabilities between our research data and management systems.
